About Lonneke Stulen

Seeing and capturing images makes me happy, especially out on the street, portraying the extraordinary in everyday life. Spontaneous photography has become my specialty, and it is mainly the people that give my photos their power. I capture their emotions in all their clarity, ambiguity or vagueness, usually when they are not aware of the camera. I also like to play with light and shadow. I am fascinated by symmetry and mirroring.

I work mostly in black and white – but also in color, if the colors in the image are in balance. In 2007, one of my street photographs was selected from thousands of submissions as the winning image in a photo contest of Metro newspaper. Meanwhile, I have done several jobs for newspapers, magazines, brochures and websites. In 2014, my work was exhibited in OBA Amsterdam.
